who we are
Angkor Association for the Disabled is a small, local, grassroots organization established by a landmine survivor. Our goal is to assist landmine survivors and people with disabilities around Siem Reap.
what we do
We raise funds to purchase carts or tricycles equipped to carry postcards, books, souvenirs or drinks. The cost of adapting a tricycle/cart and equipping it with goods for sale is around US$250. Income from sale of the products goes directly to towards keeping the cart owner away from a life of begging. All the carts display the slogan ‘I don't beg. I want to work'.
We are planning many new projects to implement including craft training, literacy training, and TV and motorbike repairing, in the hope that such training will lead to real jobs and a positive future.
